PASUQUIN, Kalitungan Falls

Hi, I'm Rachelle Anne Palencia Moriente. Welcome to Pasuquin!

Kalitungan Falls are located at Brgy. San Juan Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte. A beautiful discovered where it will give you more than enough amazing things to see like gigantic moss-covered trees, wild orchids, colorful mushrooms and clear water. The cold water coming from the mountainside brings your body from freezing. It is one of the enjoyable destinations in Pasuquin because of its cascading falling water.
My experience is quit exciting but its worth when you see the beauty of it. Well, it was my first time to go in kalitungan (we’re all a first timer anyway). So we should be staying together so that no one will get lost.
This paradise is only a minute away from the town in Pasuqun. You can use motorbikes or hire a tricycle to go there. But if you have your own vehicle, its good. Well, we use “kitong-kitong” to go there because if we hire a tricycle it is very expensive. Then after a minute of travelling, we reach the houses were we can park our vehicles.
Question! Why do we need to leave our vehicles?

Well ofcourse, we need to leave our vehicles because we are going to cross some rivers and there are only one way to get there and even a motorcross can’t withstand. We crossed different kind of obstacles like climbing the cliff and passing the woods. But if you’re afraid in height, then this is not your kind of adventure.. Its about 30 minutes to 1 hour walk depend on how fast you are. And make sure you ate enough food because you need energy and you’ll get sweat (who would like to be collapse somewhere along the way right).
Then FINALLY! we reach our destination. And all I can say is “WOW”…. It was indeed a real paradise. What a GREAT EXPERIENCE.

BANGUI, Sentinell Hill

Hi, I'm Alette Corpuz. Welcome to Sentinella Hill!

Sentinella Hill, situated in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, offers breathtaking views of the South China Sea. This historic hill served as a look-out tower of local vigilantes to ward off Moro pirates and foreign invaders who periodically attacked the coastal settlements of Bangui as evidenced by the destruction of a Spanish Church located at Barangay Taguiporo. It was also used as towering guidepost of the Japanese Naval Fleet during the Second World War (1941-1945). As historical monument of events and development in the past, every Banguinian cherishes the Sentinela Hill where the iconic Watch Tower is located symbolizing their love and unity for lasting peace and security.

SARRAT, Cathedral of Sta. Monica

Hi, I'm Jessie Hanz Tadiwan. Welcome to Sarrat!

Sarrat, Ilocos Norte is popular for two reasons. One, it's the birthplace of The late President Ferdinand Marcos and two, the Parish Church of Sta. Monica is found here. If there is one landmark that is frequented by most faithful in Sarrat, it is the Cathedral of Sta. Monica. The church was constructed in the Baroque and Neoclassical styles. It has buttressed walls, 3-level Brick Bridge and staircase that connect the church to the convent. It was the last Spanish church built in Ilocos Norte and considered as the largest church in the whole region. However, there's much more to it than that. It is a silent witness to various historical events, good or bad, but she remains unscathed in her monumental beauty and grandeur. The church is also well-kept and continues to impress whoever sets off in its solemn interior. The red bricks that compose it bear witness to Filipino artistry and aesthetic taste. It was also used as the venue for the wedding of Irene Marcos, eldest daughter of former President Ferdinand Marcos in June 1983 to Gregorio Araneta. The church is found in the town of Sarrat, and lies about 7 kilometers to the east of Laoag City. The church complex is located in a windswept area overlooking the Padsan River.

BACARRA, Bell Tower

Hi, I'm John jesreel Ramos. Welcome to Bacarra
Standing at around 50 meters tall, the red-bricked tower is structured with tiers, giving it al majestic and slightly pyramid-like shape that narrows towards the top. Despite its rugged appearance, with visible cracks and exposed brickwork, the tower exudes charm and resilience. The Bacarra Bell Tower, also known as the Torre Ti Bacarra or the Acrobatic Bell Tower, is one of the oldest and most historically significant structures in Ilocos Norte, Philippines. This bell tower was originally constructed in 1593 by Spanish Augustinian friars, serving as both a bell tower and watchtower to guard against invasions. The tower was part of the larger Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish complex in Bacarra, which was built to serve as a religious and administrative center during the Spanish colonial era. Over the centuries, the Bacarra Bell Tower has endured numerous earthquakes, storms, and even wars, which have left it in various states of disrepair. The most significant damage occurred during the 1983 earthquake, which partially destroyed the third tier of the bell tower, leaving only two tiers intact and giving it its famous leaning appearance. The tower's lean, along with its ability to "defy gravity" despite structural damage, earned it the nickname "Acrobatic Bell Tower."
